Blurred Vision after Cataract Removal?
During cataract or refractive lens exchange surgery, the eye's lens is removed from its capsule bag and replaced with a lens implant. Cells in the periphery of the capsule can migrate behind the implant following surgery. As long as the capsule stays clear & smooth one has good vision. However, if cells migrate into the central zone vision will become blurry and glare can become bothersome. Opening the capsule behind the implant with a laser solves this issue, and is called posterior capsulotomy (a painless office procedure).Dr. Singer has developed a surgical technique of meticulously polishing the lens capsule, which helps to prevent the capsule from losing its clarity. Fewer than 10% of Dr. Singer's patients need to have a posterior capsulotomy within 3 years.

Vision should improve within hours after the laser treatment. Floating specks are typically noticed for several weeks & are normal. Potential but rare complications following laser posterior capsulotomy are increased intraocular pressure and retinal detachment. Please report the appearance of persistent clouds or curtains in any portion of your visual field which persist for more than a few hours.
